The benefits of a Will
Your Will is a unique and clear record of your wishes. No matter what your financial situation, making a legal Will enables you to continue to provide for those who depend on you today. It also allows you to support the people in your community and the charities you care about beyond your lifetime. Even a modest amount or a small percentage of an estate makes a difference.
How do I make a Will?
If you have not yet made your Will, the good news is that this is usually a very simple, inexpensive process. The benefits are enormous, and it can also be a relief for you. Your Will is a living document that continues beyond your lifetime. Because it is a legal document, it is important to seek the right advice and wording. Your lawyer, the Public Trust, Perpetual Trust, or a Trustee Company will be able to explain the various ways in which this can be done.
Leaving a Bequest
If you do choose to leave a bequest to Presbyterian Support East Coast or one of its services (Enliven Older People Services, Enliven Disability Services or Family Works), these are some options and suggested wording:
For a bequest to Presbyterian Support East Coast:
“I give to Presbyterian Support East Coast, the sum of $....... (*) for which the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer shall be full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”
For a bequest to a Presbyterian Support East Coast service:
“I give to (service name), a service of Presbyterian Support East Coast, the sum of $....... (*) for its services on the East Coast, for which the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer shall be full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”
(*) Other bequest options:
(%) of my estate
the residue of my estate
(description of gifted asset or property)
Reviewing your Will
Advisors recommend you review your Will every five years or so in case your circumstances and intentions change. This is an ideal time to add an amendment or addition (called a Codicil) to incorporate a bequest to Presbyterian Support East Coast or one of its services.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to those who decide to contribute to the future well being of this region through a gift in their Will to Presbyterian Support East Coast, or one of its services.
Please let us know
