Programme Coordinator – Enliven Older People

Presbyterian Support is one of the largest providers of social and health services in New Zealand. Our East Coast team is made up of over 220 staff and 200 volunteers across our services, which include Enliven and Family Works in Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti, and three charity shops.

Enliven Day Programmes, a service of PSEC, support older people so they can live and enjoy life as a valued part of our community. Along with social connection, our Day Programmes provide Strength and Balance exercise classes and cognitively stimulating, fun and engaging activities.

Our team works alongside clients and their families/whanau to provide individually tailored support programmes that allow older people to live life fully and maximise independence.

About the role:

We are currently looking for a passionate, energetic and engaging Programme Coordinator to join our team and help deliver high quality, meaningful and fun services to our amazing and diverse group of clients.

You will work closely with the Community Programmes Manager to plan and deliver meaningful and engaging activities that cater to all clients and meets their needs. As part of your role you will support client assessments, goal setting and reporting.

You’ll support and maintain clients’ dignity, respect, personal values, culture and personal preferences. Application through programme delivery of strengths-based model of service delivery by maximising autonomy, independence and participation. You’ll work within the team in an efficient, functional, inclusive and communicative way.

  • 12 hours a week working across 2 days – Tuesdays and Thursdays (9am to 3.30pm) at our Havelock North Day Programme site.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a dementia qualification (minimum level 4) or equivalent or be willing to undergo training towards the qualification.
  • Have experience working with an older person living with dementia.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the strengths-based model of service delivery; maximising autonomy, independence, and participation.
  • Hold a full drivers licence with the ability to drive the van and transport clients.
  • Have good organisational and facilitation skills, be able to problem solve, work under pressure and work independently.
  • Be able to de-escalate challenging behaviour.
  • Be creative and resourceful.
  • Be able to follow instruction and meet deadlines.
  • Be willing to learn and complete training.
  • Have a genuine affinity for older people.
  • Be honest, reliable, positive and punctual.
