Presbyterian Support is one of the largest providers of social and health services in New Zealand. Our East Coast team is made up of over 220 staff and 200 volunteers across our services, which include Enliven and Family Works in Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti, and three charity shops.

About the role:

As a Family Works Social Worker/Facilitator you will provide timely intervention and provide an effective service to achieve improved safety and holistic wellbeing for positive and sustainable life changes. 

As a member of our team, you will work with other professionals and walk alongside whānau and their tamariki developing plans to improve their safety, wellbeing. Empowering these individuals and encourage them to make better life choices to achieve positive outcomes and wellbeing in their lives.

In this role you will:  

  • Engage with tamariki and whānau in mana enhancing ways
  • Conduct an intensive and appropriate assessment of the needs and goals of tamariki and whānau and support them to reach their aspirations through education, and advocacy using evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure child safety is paramount to any assessment.
  • Work in a co-facilitator role for children's and parenting programmes
  • Be a positive team player in a multi-disciplinary team

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Current registration and practising certificate as a Social Worker/Facilitation experience
  • Passionate about working with whānau with a focus on strengths-based practice 
  • Strong knowledge in non-violence and effective practice
  • Able to demonstrate cultural competency 
  • Clear communication both oral and written
  • Self-confidence and resilience
  • Must be a team player who supports all staff members of Family Works
  • A clean, current full driver’s licence is an essential requirement
