2025 PSEC Annual General Meeting (AGM)
On 29th October 2025, our AGM was held at the Lantern Gallery, Havelock North Function Centre. This year’s theme was ‘Building a better life for everyone.’
The meeting opened with Karakia led by Francis Te Pou with Rev Wayne Toleafoa, followed by hymn Whakaaria Mai. Rev Toleafoa gave thanks for PSEC, for every kaimahi, every Board member, every whānau that we serve, and blessed the gathering with insight, courage and unity. “May the kōrero be guided by tika, hono and aroha.”

Alison Prins, PSEC Board Chair shared that it’s been a big year for PSEC with lots of progress and purpose, “the big news of course has been the opening of the Rowan Apartments. Delivering on scale, on time and budget, and keeping everything else moving has been a real credit to the team.” She highlighted strong governance, sustainability, and partnerships, “whanaungatanga and kotahitanga have really been evident through all this year in all of these projects. They’re not just words for us, they’re what holds our organisation together.”

Alison thanked outgoing Chair Stuart Signal and highlighted PSEC’s strong leadership, “our focus remains clear – financial sustainability, strong values- led leadership, and delivering on a strategic plan to enable disabled people to live good lives, support whānau, tamariki, and older people to thrive.”

Retiring Board members were farewelled and thanked for their service
Stuart Signal – Outgoing Chair, 12 years on the Board, served on Audit and Risk Committee prior to that. “Stuart has been an incredible mentor and support and we have really valued him. He has given a huge amount of commitment to this organisation.”
Sandra Faulkner – 3 years on the PSEC Board. Sandra remains very committed to serving on the Arohiwi Station Board, part of her initial connection with the organisation.
Ken Foote – 6 years on the PSEC Board, and chaired Governance Committee for most of that time. He’s been a PSEC representative on Arohiwi Station Board. “Ken has brough considerable governance and business experience to both PSEC and Arohiwi Station, and he’s done a tremendous amount of work to really refine and improve how our governance operates.”

“The culture of this organisation is something special and to be able to give back to my own community in such a way, in such an enjoyable and fruitful way, it’s an honour and a privilege.” – Ken
Tobias Taylor – 9 years on the Board, has served as Deputy Chair, and has chaired the Audit and Risk Committee. “Tobias has led a lot of work around the investment portfolio, given us advise and guidance, and has put us in a really strong position. We value the blue sky kind of thinking which is a real gift he has brought to the Board.”

“It has been an absolute privilege and honour. To be able to apply your skill to an organisation that has different outputs to your daily life…Being able to give something back has been a pleasure.” – Tobias
