Cyclone Gabrielle Recovery – Family Works Hawke’s Bay

Following Cyclone Gabrielle, Family Works Hawke’s Bay made lunches for volunteers from the Tu Tangata Church community who had arrived in Hawke’s Bay from all across the motu to aid in the clean-up process. This was just a small way of showing manaakitanga and aroha and supporting and nourishing those that were on the ground helping in those early response days.

Family Works Hawke’s Bay was grateful for a generous donation of nappies, baby wipes, and sanitary products which were able to be passed on to whānau in need. It was lovely to see everyone coming together during a difficult time. The team has reconnected with clients and continue to assess what supports tamariki and whānau may need.

Carlotta Bauer-Edwards, Service Manager, Family Works Hawke’s Bay said, “I am very proud of the team for their initiative, resilience, and drive to help despite also being affected by these events in various ways.”
