The Big Community Quiz Raises Over $20,000 for Enliven!
What a fantastic evening of fun, laughter, friendly competition and community generosity!
On 15 October 2026, PSEC hosted The Big Community Quiz fundraising event at the Elwood Function Centre in Hastings, for Enliven. It was a great success, bringing together 150 guests across 18 teams and raising over $20,000 for Enliven Disability and Enliven Older People.
The atmosphere was buzzing as local quizmaster Riggsy (Brent Riggs) who kept everyone on their toes, while auctioneer Hamish McDonald who added plenty of excitement to the live auctions. The silent auction prizes also attracted plenty of enthusiastic bidding, while guests enjoyed delicious Boerewors rolls, cheese platters and chocolates throughout the evening.
Congratulations to The Whale Riders, who took out the 2026 trophy for the second year running, with the Mako Sharks and HBT Jokers close behind!
Our PSEC staff raffle was won by Ruth Pearson-Vella from our very own Charity Shop in Taradale Store Manager, who generously shared her winnings with staff and shop volunteeers the next day. A lovely example of community generosity continuing to give back!
The evening was made possible by the incredible support of our Hawke’s Bay community, with local businesses and individuals donating a wonderful range of prizes.
