Family Works finds new premises after seven-month search

Family Works Hawke’s Bay has secured new premises more than seven months after having to vacate Heretaunga House in Hastings due to earthquake risk.

These new premises are across two sites; at 104 Lyndon Road, and office space in St Andrew’s Church Hall over the road.

There is some refurbishment work to be done in the Lyndon Road offices, with the move to those premises planned for May 2021. Some of the FWHB team will move to St Andrew’s Church Hall once IT connections are set up during March.

Family Works Hawke’s Bay supports children and families facing challenges and crisis in their lives. This includes social work, counselling, parenting programmes and family violence prevention.

These central locations position the Family Works team in the Justice precinct in central Hastings and will accommodate the PSEC foodbank as well as community and parenting programmes.

The team has been working out of PSEC’s head office at Hillsbrook in Havelock North since the end of June 2020.

“The team have coped really well with the sudden move and the space constraints of accommodating everyone in Hillsbrook. We’ve very much enjoyed having our Family Works team with us under one roof.” says Mrs Majstorovic.
